it's a shame that this link will probably cease to work in a few weeks. but while it's here, i'd like to venture a guess: a competent twelve year old could have "analyzed" the news (read other stories on the same topic) and spit this one out.
if you haven't read anything about the (bank) stress tests, this is a good introduction for sure. part of me is posting it for that reason. but returning to the original thought, the state of american media saddens me. count me among the many critics.
however, as one of my favorite professors once told me, "anyone can criticize something, but what does that add to the world?" so i dare not criticize without putting forth a suggestion. i think we could all benefit from regularly consuming local, national, and international news. if this were the case, mindless "analysis" like this one would be without audience.
in several parisian evening magazines and occasionally the post express (yes, like the free ones on the metro) you'll find an entertaining mix of the aforementioned. it can be done, and it can be fun, and most of all - if you don't do the thinking, someone else will do it for you.
