Dear Readers,
So much has happened in the last month since I’ve posted. I got a roommate, a promotion, another student to tutor, and a teacher’s assistantship with my former thesis advisor. I couldn’t pass this up, but it demonstrates my extreme tendency to over commit.
As an adult with an extra d – get it? – I like to be on the go. When I’ve always got something coming, I don’t spend much time in the present; and when that rare moment comes, I savor it. I may even postpone things to have that time. More often than not though, I get sick.
I’m just now realizing that this might be why I find myself regularly afflicted. Mind you, these maladies are not in my head. The most recent one is in my heart, and documented in my local “cath” lab. Before that, it was my bladder – too much espresso may do that to you, folks, watch out! – that is also documented on film.
I found the bladder shots so intriguing that I tried to bribe the office assistant to copy them for me! But anyway, besides running myself into the ground, I think I’m on to something with this skipping ahead of the present bit. I’m sure part of my subconscious deals with the present when I don’t.
Or worse, it often catches up to me at inopportune times. For example, it’s nine o’clock at night and I’m hungry! Shoot, I only bought vegetables and fresh fish because I like eating healthy. Shoot, I need to take time to prepare it, but I want to eat right now! Why is it nine o’clock at night; because I scheduled students for every day of the week after my 8:30 to 5:00.
That would also explain why my laundry and dry cleaning only get attended to once a month. Wow, I’ve really spilled the beans – to the extent that you might think I’ve lost my marbles – but I assure you, they’re all in there somewhere, and like bouncing around, which pretty much explains why I am the way I am…
I hate routine. Sometimes. What I loved about France is that you always see the same people in the shops and they greet you. There’s room for relationship in that kind of routine. These are the ones I don’t like: Clean your [anything] [insert any regular interval]; Eat everyday at times X, Y, and Z; Go to the gym on Monday and Wednesday.
You get the picture right? I also rebel against the thought of a check book register! It’s so nice and logical, why can’t I use one? I’ve been wanting a tattoo, how funny would it be to put that on my wrist… Wait a minute, there was purpose in this post.
I wanted to get YOUR opinions on daily activities, pace, routines, and/or my life. In my book, there’s always room for improvement, and in this case, there is a desert’s worth!

How do you feel about Kombucha? I like the Quince and Raspberry flavors, but the Classic tastes way too much like ferment (which probably isn't a noun, but you're getting the idea).
But after seeing these pics, I may have to change my mind...

Wow, allowing comments was mind numbingly easy.
On that note, and since this page will not let me publish it in blog format, I think I'll leave notes here that direct you back to the post of that day.
Today I came to blog about punctuation, coconut milk ice cream sandwich minis, and kombucha - half because I loved it and half because I hear it's a buzz word in the foodie community right now (smiles).

Here, I plan to post:
- recipies and notes about how they turn out
- articles on holistic nutrition (generally locally grown, seasonally appropriate, organic fruits, veggies, and grains)
- articles highlighting the injustice of agrobusiness and illegal trade practices of the wealthiest countries to the demise of the poorest
- musings on our consumer driven society (both as an economist and a victim)
- notes about France, undoubtedly the country of origin of my soul
- links to fantastic foreign films
- and everything else AS SOON AS I figure out how to let you comment
See you soon!
OMG...I can't believe we actually drank Kombucha! After seeing these pictures, I'm afraid my "maybe it's an acquired taste" philosophy is going to have to go down the drain. Haha...but I MAY be willing to try it again, provided that you're by my side, gulping it down shot-style. ;-)
